Nedstack and thyssenkrupp Strengthen Partnership to Advance Fuel Cell Manufacturing

Nedstack and thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of a semi automated PEM fuel cell production system. The agreement was signed during the EPT Electromobile Production Days conference in Aachen, organized by the PEM Institute of RWTH Aachen University.

The partnership builds on several simultaneous engineering projects that have been underway since 2020. Together, the companies are integrating advanced automation technology with Nedstack’s extensive fuel cell manufacturing expertise to industrialize next generation production processes.

Reinventing Fuel Cell Production

The semi automated production system is designed to significantly reduce production costs, improve quality control and increase manufacturing efficiency. By applying best practices from automotive and battery manufacturing, the collaboration brings advanced assembly and automation standards into the hydrogen sector.

The new production system will be installed at Nedstack’s Fuel Cell Giga Factory in Arnhem, the Netherlands. This facility, part of the IPCEI Hy2Tech program, will serve as a central hub for large scale fuel cell production and further strengthen Europe’s hydrogen manufacturing capabilities.

By combining strengths in fuel cell technology and automation engineering, Nedstack and thyssenkrupp aim to accelerate the rollout of hydrogen solutions and support the transition toward a competitive and sustainable hydrogen economy.
